Tasks and description of the job: The pallet hand sorter is responsible for inspecting, sorting, repairing, and moving wooden pallets. This is an important position within the logistics and distribution sector, where the quality and usability of pallets are essential for efficient and safe operation of warehouses and transportation.
Job Description: Pallet Hand Sorter
Main Tasks:
Inspecting Pallets:
Visually inspecting pallets for damages, wear, and defects such as broken boards, loose nails, or cracks.
Using simple measuring tools to check if the pallets meet the specifications.
Sorting Pallets:
Separating good pallets from pallets that need repair or disposal.
Categorizing pallets based on their condition and type (e.g., European pallets, standard pallets, etc.).
Repairing Pallets:
Performing simple repairs such as replacing broken boards or nailing loose parts.
Using hand tools like hammers, nails, saws, and screwdrivers.
Moving Pallets:
Manually or using forklifts and pallet trucks to move pallets to the correct locations in the warehouse.
Stacking pallets in a safe and stable manner to save space and minimize safety risks.
Maintaining Records:
Recording the number of sorted, repaired, and disposed pallets.
Keeping logbooks or digital records to track the pallet inventory.
Safety Regulations:
Following all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety shoes, and protective clothing.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy loads, and perform repetitive tasks.
Attention to Detail: Accuracy in inspecting and repairing pallets to ensure quality.
Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hand tools and basic repair techniques.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and compliance with safety regulations and the use of PPE.
Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work effectively with colleagues and clear communication skills.

The Netto hour rate excluding reservations is based on a 40 hour week. It can variate a little bit because in the Netherlands the more you earn the more tax you pay. But on overtime they get an extra percentage. Normally this is around 125% for the first 2 hours overtime and all hours above that plus Saturday are 150%. With the higher tax payment this averages out to approximately the same. Besides this they also build-up 10,82% bruto reservation money on the first 40 hours. They also reserve 8.33% vacation pay and get a nice travel allowance.
